Akumal

Akumal means place of the turtles in Maya, and that is still why people come: sea turtles feed in the bay year-round, close enough to snorkel beside one from shore. Yal-ku Lagoon mixes cenote and sea water for the best easy snorkeling on this stretch of coast. There is no strip of bars here, just a handful of restaurants and long, quiet beaches. Our properties sit beachfront or a short walk from the bay.
